Simona Kijonková Is a Millionaire between Us
She is a successful businesswoman who knows how life without money looks like. Today, she owns her own company with a turnover of more than one billion, but she had spent her childhood and coming of age in poverty. Simona belongs to the most influential women in the Czech Republic and is rightfully nicknamed the First lady of internet entrepreneurship.
Her Zásilkovna delivers parcels to customers in thirty European countries and is expanding to other continents. In the project, A Millionaire between Us, she changes her life for a week and sets off undercover to Děčín. With only 550 crowns in her wallet, she leaves her family and business and will work as a volunteer. She will engage in the help of seniors, children from underprivileged families and abused women.
„I have seen the foreign version, which has moved me and took my breath away. I wanted to show the necessity of volunteer work and also the character and inner beauty of people within the nonprofit sector. These voluntary organizations were invisible and unknown to the public. I didn’t take much time to think about it and I directly participated.“
Millionaire between Us
In the unique project, seven Czech millionaires enter a completely unknown world from day-to-day. Under a new identity, they find themselves at the periphery of society, in problematic locations, but also in organizations which are focused on helping people in need. Václav Staněk, Simona Kijonková, Jiří Antoš, Lenka Hlavatá, Karel Janeček, Petra Plemlová and Martin Hausenblas are the seven brave millionaires, who changed the warmth of their luxurious home for a humble hostel, caviar for Chinese noddle soup and a management position in successful companies for manual work.
