Packeta’s new HQ in the Balabenka Office Building. Offices with own water retention tank, compost, and photovoltaics
Packeta Group and Czech Zásilkovna have new headquarters. A total of 250 employees, including the company’s management, will work in the new modern premises of the Balabenka Office Building in the center of Prague. A number of eco-friendly facilities have been installed on the 3 500 square meter site.
Our new building and offices were built with a focus on sustainability. For example, the building has its own compost bin and the flowers and greenery in the office complex are watered with water from a retention tank, which retains underground water. There are also several electric car charging stations in the building which Packeta employees use. The stations generate electricity from photovoltaics which are installed on the roof.
The generated energy surpluses are then used by other devices which support the operation of the building. The offices are lit with energy-saving LED lighting. Of course, waste is sorted in the offices, including metal. There is also a children’s play area in our new premises and a baby-changing table in the restroom.
“The entire Packeta Group has significantly expanded the number of employees in recent years. Our current premises were no longer sufficient, and, therefore, we decided to find a new modern headquarters. From the very beginning, we planned to use modern ecological trends as much as possible when designing our new offices. We used a lot of recycled materials, for example for the furniture upholstery, cabinets and screens. We have placed sparkling water makers in the premises to avoid the consumption of drinks in plastic bottles. A unique design element is the recycled paper cardboard used as sound insulation. We acquired it from used paper parcel boxes from our depots. In total, we used more than 1.5 tons of cardboard. If we were to spread it out, we would create a 50-kilometer-long paper strip,” says Simona Kijonková, founder of Zásilkovna and CEO of Packeta Group.
