Packeta Will Participate in EXPO Dubai 2020. We Will Have a Rotating Exhibit for Three Weeks at the World Expo
The Packeta Group, which owns Zásilkovna and other companies providing pick-up points, logistics and delivery services abroad, will participate in the world exhibition EXPO 2020 Dubai. The exhibition has a tradition of over 170 years and for the first time in history is hosted by a country of the MENA & SA region. Our Packeta will be presenting its services and exhibiting a drone that has been used in a pilot project for autonomous delivery in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague from 23 October to 14 November 2021 in the Czech pavilion. At the event, we will also present our unique project in the field of robotics. The United Arab Emirates is the first country in the Middle East to which we have started delivering parcels. This year we plan to launch shipping to Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia as well.
“In the first quarter of this year we held a number of intensive negotiations in the UAE and became a member of the Czech Business Council Dubai. Thanks to this partnership, Packeta has secured a stable base for its expansion. The UAE is the first country in the Middle East where we have started delivering parcels. We are even more pleased that the exhibition is taking place in a country where we have our own entity,” says Simona Kijonková, founder of Zásilkovna and CEO of Packeta Group.
“We are one of the selected Czech exhibitors and as a technology leader we will proudly present how we not only apply technology to our processes, but also develop it ourselves. Together with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, we have prepared a video demonstrating autonomous drone delivery with a link to our vision of hydrogen and the idea of sustainability, which is one of the sub-themes of this year’s exhibition. Robotics is also a major sub-theme of this year’s exhibition and Packeta has now completed one of its key projects in this area. With our exhibition we will underline that Packeta is a global technology company and has a place in creating the future, which is one of the main themes of this year’s exhibition,” adds Simona Kijonková.
“The exhibition of the Packeta Group and the Czech Technical University in Prague in the Czech pavilion of EXPO represents the future of logistics, in which autonomous drones will cooperate with ground robots in the delivery of parcels,” said Martin Saska, head of the Multi-robot Systems (MRS) group at the Faculty of Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, commenting on the joint exhibition. “In this project we apply our results of basic research in the field of autonomous robotics, specifically the technology developed for precise control and coordination of groups of drones. Thanks to on-board sensors and artificial intelligence, our drones are able to react in real time to the evolving situation in their environment, avoid obstacles and optimize the solution to the assigned task. It is the cognitive behavior and coordination of large teams of cooperating drones that are crucial for logistics services,” adds Martin Saska, whose Multi-robot Systems (MRS) group, based at the Department of Cybernetics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, is at the forefront of its field. They are developing a globally unique technology for very precise control of helicopter groups, which is proving to be significantly the most reliable and successful of all competing solutions.
The global pandemic caused the postponement of last year’s edition by exactly one year. The exhibition will run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, with nearly 200 countries participating – with an expected attendance of over 25 million visitors. The main theme of this year’s six-month exhibition, which began on 1 October, is Connecting Minds, Creating Futures. The Czech pavilion at the exhibition is in the spirit of the Czech Spring with a focus on sustainability.
Now, e-shops can reach more than 9 million customers in the United Arab Emirates with Packeta. We cooperate with the local shipping partner Aramex and Packeta offers delivery to all parts of the emirates at the same price. All parcels are shipped to the UAE by airfreight, so it is not possible to ship goods that are automatically excluded from airfreight by current legislation.
