Packeta opened 3 new strategic depots in Slovakia and Poland #pressrelease
Packeta Group, the parent company of Czech Zásilkovna, opened 3 new strategic depots. Over 160 employees can sort nearly 3.5 million parcels a month at these new depots.
Packeta Group, owner of Czech technology and logistics company Zásilkovna, opened three new depots during the fall, which together cover an area of 10 422 m2. Packeta processes up to 170 000 parcels daily at the new depots in Poland and Slovakia. In total, Packeta has 47 depots in Europe covering 112 000 m2. Newly opened depots will make parcel collections more efficient and help increase the overall speed of parcel processing, especially during peak season, which is once again a record one for Packeta as the company transported over 820 000 shipments in a single day on November 27.
“Packeta is constantly expanding its network of depots to ensure top-notch service quality and maximum speed of parcel sorting. Speed and reliability are key factors both for online shops and end customers. The opening of two new modern depots in Slovakia and one new depot in Poland was a logical step as these are important markets and modern depots in these areas are a necessity,” comments Daniel Tinz, CCO of Packeta Group. “This year is again a record one for Zásilkovna, but also for the entire Packeta holding. Already in November, we broke our record for the number of parcels sorted within 1 day,” adds Tinz.
The Slovak depots will serve the regions of central Slovakia and Nitra. The Polish depot is located in Bielsko-Biała. When building new depots, Packeta always looks not only for functionality and efficiency but also at the sustainability factor. The Zvolen depot has a roof covered with ivy, which helps insulate the building and generally improves the air quality in the surrounding area.
This depot has been awarded the 2nd highest sustainability rating called BREEAM Excellent. Around the depot, insect hotels will be built to encourage natural biodiversity. The Nitra depot is already set up for electromobility, which Packeta envisages for the near future.
The company hired more than one hundred thousand part-time employees as warehouse workers or drivers for what is once again a record season for Packeta. This year, Packeta will deliver an estimated 110 million parcels, 97% of which will be delivered within the next day. A wide network of pick-up points is a solid foundation for managing the pre-Christmas rush for the company. In total, Packeta Group has almost 15 000 company pick-up points (5 400 in the Czech Republic), of which almost 6 000 are sustainable self-service Z-BOXes. Z-BOXes operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which means that presents delivered here can be picked up even on Christmas Eve.
The last day for ensuring parcel delivery by Christmas is 19 December if submitted at a drop-off point, and 20 December if dropped off at a depot.
