Obligation to State the Weight of Parcels from 1 September 2021
This year, Packeta will experience its 11th Christmas season. Every year, this busiest time of the year for e-commerce brings us new experiences. Thanks to them and the huge volumes of parcels delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic, we know what steps to take in order to manage the logistics of millions of parcels quickly and efficiently. One of the significant steps is knowing the details of your parcels before you hand them over to us.
For this reason, from 1 September 2021, we will require the weight parameter to be entered into the system when submitting parcels.
How does the weight data help us?
- The moment you enter a parcel into the system, we will already know whether it is standard or over the maximum limit.
- We can plan the distribution of parcels to our drivers’ cars more efficiently.
- We can estimate the required capacity in terms of cars and drivers in advance and ensure that there are enough of them.
What about the dimensions of the parcels?
The obligation to enter dimensions in addition to weight will come into force on 1 March 2022, when it will no longer be possible to submit parcels without specifying the weight and dimensions. We are deliberately leaving this step until after the main season so that you have enough time to work out the data entry processes and do not have to process this news during the busy pre-Christmas period. For the same reason, we are launching the weight entry in August.
Other changes from 1 March 2022
From March next year, it will also be mandatory to indicate when the parcel will be shipped to us from your warehouse. This, together with the dimensions and weight of the parcels, will help us to analyze in advance, for example, what size of Z-BOX box will be needed for the parcel and when exactly will the parcel arrive at the Z-BOX. Optionally, it will also be possible to provide information on where and how the parcel will be submitted. All of this will be carried out with a clear goal: to deliver even faster, eliminate the number of returns and make the most of the capacity of all Z-BOXes and pick-up points.
