In the first half of the year, we grew by 118% year-on-year
Winners and losers of the coronavirus crisis. While some add up their losses or even close, Zásilkovna ended up on the winning side. In the first half of this year alone, we broke another record.
The Packeta Group, which owns the leading Czech logistics company and other companies providing services of pick-up points, logistics and delivery abroad, reports a turnover of almost CZK 918 million in the first half of 2020. This is a year-on-year increase of 118 percent.
In terms of the number of parcels shipped, it exceeded 14.5 million, which is also more than double in the year-on-year comparison. The coronavirus pandemic played a major role in the results.
“The significant increase in turnover and the number of parcels transported is mainly due to the ever-growing e-commerce market. With more and more customers moving purchases of goods to the Internet, the coronavirus pandemic has accelerated it even more. This applies both to the Czech Republic and all European markets where we operate,” explained Simona Kijonková, the founder of Zásilkovna and the CEO of the Packeta Group, about the results for the first half of the year available to Seznam Zprávy.
Zásilkovna
The Czech transport company was founded in 2010 by Simona Kijonková.
It has 4,700 own pick-up points and 91,600 partner pick-up points.
It collaborates with 28,000 e-shops.
In 2019, the turnover of the Packeta Group, to which Zásilkovna belongs, was almost CZK 1.3 billion.
“For example, our Mezi námi (Between Us) service for shipping parcels between individuals is successful. We’re approaching the limit of two million delivered parcels. With the number of pick-up points, we’re targeting 4,000 this year, making us the largest network in the Czech Republic. We want to reach a total of 6,800 pick-up points in Europe,” added the woman whose first business went bankrupt years ago and is now one of the most successful persons in the Czech Republic.

Records go hand in hand with ambitious plans
During this year, Packeta expects a turnover of CZK 2.5 billion and 35 million parcels transported. By the end of the year, the group plans to launch a number of new products and services. For example, these include a unique project in the field of automatic pick-up points, introducing the delivery of parcels to the trunk of a car or further expanding the comfort for customers with the Mezi námi service.
Packeta will also open more new depots, the total number of which will increase to 26 by the end of 2020 (14 in the Czech Republic, seven in Slovakia, three in Hungary and two in Romania). In addition, it is planned to start delivering parcels to the Middle East this year.
