Parcel submission & COD
Regarding parcels with cash on delivery, for all parcels shipped in 2022, we recommend keeping the currency set to kuna. If these parcels are delivered within the first 2 weeks of 2023, the recipients are free to choose the currency in which they want to pay the COD. A fixed exchange rate of 7.53450 HRK = 1 EUR will be used for the conversion.
When 2023 begins, the official currency change will take place. So moving forward, it will only be possible to enter the COD amounts in euros. Kuna as the no-longer valid currency will be blocked in our system. Therefore, in order to submit parcels for shipping in our system, you have to change the entered currency to EUR.
Parcels that had been created in 2022 can still be handed over to our network in 2023, even if the entered currency for COD is kuna.
For those who want to prepare for the change sooner, it is possible to make the switch to entering COD in euros ahead. However, you must take into account that the fixed exchange rate is not yet applicable and the currency conversion rate will be set by our General Terms and Conditions. If you wish to make the change earlier, please contact your sales representative who will arrange it in the system for you.
For more information, see our official documentation here.
Converting CODs
You will receive your last invoice in HRK on 27 December 2022. After the year’s end, all transactions will be made in euros regardless of whether the amount cashed from the recipient is in HRK or EUR. If the COD amount is collected in kuna, it will be converted to euros at the fixed exchange rate mentioned above.
FAQs
Until when can I submit shipping orders in HRK into the Packeta system?
Until the morning of 29 December 2022. After that, the service will be temporarily suspended due to necessary system changes.
Can I start shipping parcels with COD in EUR before 1. 1. 2023?
Yes, you can. To switch your COD payments to EUR, contact your sales representative who will be happy to arrange this change in the system for you.
From when do I have to submit shipping orders in EUR?
From the service reopening which will happen either on Monday, 2 January 2023, or a day later on Tuesday, 3 January 2023 depending on the speed of the system modifications. From this time onwards, it will be no longer possible to ship parcels with COD values in HRK, and switching to EUR will be required.
How will the shipping orders that had been submitted in HRK but will be delivered in 2023 be handled?
All concerned parcels will be processed. With the currency change, there is a 14-day transitional period in Croatia where within this time period, the recipients can choose to either still pay in HRK or make the switch and already pay their COD in EUR. If they choose to pay in euros, the amount that had been submitted in kunas will be converted to euros using the set fixed exchange rate.
Will the CODs begin to come in EUR directly from 1. 1. 2023 even if the amounts had been submitted and cashed in HRK?
Yes, as the currency of kuna will no longer exist.
I´ve already sorted it with my bank that my account in HRK is to be closed on 30 Dec 2022. When do I need to update this information in my account?
The last invoices for COD payments in HRK during 2022 will be issued on 27 December 2022. This means that during the last week of 2022, these last obligations will be paid out in HRK. The next COD payment will take place in 2023, already in EUR. This payment will be sent to the account led in EUR that you have stated in your user account. If you´ve not yet entered the information about your EUR account into the system, you can do so now.
In case you do not have any accounts led in EUR, you can continue using your account in HRK—your bank will transfer it into a EUR account. It is only necessary to overwrite the information in your Client section and state the account in the field for payments in EUR.
The settings of all users who have now saved their COD payments in HRK will be changed to COD payments in EUR. If you wish to switch to payments with currency conversion, this change can be made in your user account in the Client section. It is recommended to make said changes after the last invoicing in HRK, meaning after 27 December 2022.
Your sales representative will be happy to help you with the account settings.
