US FedEx: Additional Information

Export of Food, Beverages and Food Supplements
 
 
Dear Clients, 
 
We have registered complications during parcel delivery to the USA, which include food, beverages and food supplements. Therefore, we are sending you additional information considering the processes that these parcels go through, so that you can be prepared for all circumstances.
 
Necessary Administration
Even though the importation of food, beverages and food supplements is not completely forbidden, it is necessary to mention that they are subject to strict regulations and the substantiation of additional information, the so-called FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration). It is necessary to provide this requested information to FedEx. In case FedEx does not receive additional information or documentation, it will not deliver the parcel and will return it instead.
 
Important Information
Based on our current experiences, we do not recommend shipping these commodities in case you are not able to provide detailed information on them, which is necessary for the import to the USA.
 
In case we register an increased number of returned parcels of this character, we will inform you immediately (individually), so that you can react on time and prepare all that is necessary.
 
If this problem will persist, we will be forced to begin charging the price of the returned parcel (= price of export) from the USA, and also, in case of the repeated release of goods for the free circulation within the EU, alternatively, the calculated customs duty and VAT – even though it considers returned parcels, regulations for the re-importation of food and beverages are also valid due to hygienic reasons.
 
Please note that during the re-importation, it can occur that the goods may be disposed of due to hygienic reasons. Therefore, such a parcel warranty claim will not be possible.
 
The stated information and procedures are established by regulations and the set-up of customs offices.

We will deliver your shipments without exceptions to all states in the USA including Hawaii, also in record time within three days of your shipment submission! A great benefit compared to the former solution for America is that you can newly send shipments weighing up to 10 kg, not the max. of 2 kg as it used to be in the past.

How to Calculate the Weight of Shipments?

The weight of all shipments to the USA will be calculated volumetrically. It is the standard procedure of airfreight and unfortunately, it is beyond our capabilities to change it. The formula for the calculation is as follows: width x length x height of shipment in cm / 5000.

Necessary Administration

First, it is necessary to fill in the Contract of Indirect Representation in Customs Clearance and Authorization Tax Management, which you may download here. It is also necessary to state your allocated EORI number. The filled in and signed document shall be sent to the emails:

Recipient: czexport@fedex.com
Copy: customs@packeta.com
In subject state: FedEx authorization – the name of your online shop

Customs clearance of shipments and processing of the customs declaration is included in the price of freight. Shipments are cleared in postal mode. Export documents will be provided to you upon request directly by FedEx at the e-mail address: CZexport.GTS@fedex.com

List of Forbidden Goods

Sending to the USA also has its limitations and the list of things which are forbidden to transport are quite extensive.  Before sending shipments, it is, therefore, necessary to check if your goods are excluded from transport. The full list of forbidden goods can be found on the following link.

The Format of Shipment ZIP Codes

FedEx requires a special format of ZIP codes for delivering shipments, without which it will not be possible to deliver shipments.  It is the combination of state code and a 5-digit ZIP number, which has the following format:  “AA 12345” (for example, UT 84005 = shipment heading to Utah).

COVID-19 Airfreight surcharge

In the period of the coronavirus crisis, the shipper charges a fee for all shipments which is associated with airfreight costs. The particular division of the supplementary charge and the breakdown of prices according to weight categories can be found in the complete price list. 

It is good to know that:  it is not possible to send C.O.D. shipments to the USA via FedEx.
