Christmas season 2023
Another year went by and Christmas is slowly peeking from around the corner. To keep you up-to-date about everything this busy season brings, we´ve created this article that will include all vital information—seasonal surcharges, service changes, adjustments of opening hours, dates for latest submission at depots—all comfortably in one place 🎄👇
PS, we will be adding and updating information in this article continuously until the end of the year for you.
Seasonal surcharges
of partner carriers
As every year, some of our partner carriers have announced seasonal surcharges for the following months due to expected higher volumes of parcels.
Seasonal surcharges are an inevitable part of the upcoming high season. In order to cope with the increase in parcel volumes without collapse, some of our partner carriers abroad temporarily increase prices. This ensures maximum process efficiency and service quality for customers.
Below you can find a structured table with seasonal carrier changes:
Please note that these surcharges will be implemented into our price list in accordance with the general terms and conditions from 1 November 2023.
The above-mentioned surcharges apply to parcel drop-off (submission) in the Czech Republic, prices for drop-off in other countries might differ.
Delivery by Christmas
via partner carriers
Our logistic partners provided us with their recommended dates to ensure parcel delivery by 24.12.
Below you can scroll through a structured table with each international carrier’s deadline.
📦 These dates are valid for deliveries within our network—meaning
drop-off points and depots in Czechia.
Please note that since the international delivery services are provided by external partners, we cannot give you a 100% guarantee. However, we will do our absolute best to ensure that your customers have their parcels by 24 December.
Shortened basic parcel storage period
at pick-up points and Z-BOXes
Annually, in the time leading up to Christmas, we shorten the parcel storage period at pick-up points and Z-BOXes to keep parcel volumes flowing as smoothly as possible. It keeps our pick-up point capacity more flexible and encourages recipients to pick up their parcels faster. It also means that COD amounts make it to the target bank accounts sooner.
📦 From 1 November to 21 December 2023, parcel storage period will be shortened at pick-up points and Z-BOXes in Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.
Pick-up points: 5 + 2
- Recipients have 5 days to pick up their parcel (based on the pick-up point´s opening hours).
- It is possible to extend the basic parcel storage period, but only by 2 days.
- Extending the storage period via Packeta mobile app is possible only day by day (up to a maximum of 2 days).
- Is it important to check the pick-up points´ opening hours as some are open on weekends, and the opening hours are what the parcel storage periods are based on.
For example, if a parcel is delivered to the pick-up point on Monday, November 6:
AND the pick-up point is open Monday – Friday, the storage period will be set until November 13. An extension is possible for November 14 and 15.
OR the pick-up point is open Monday – Saturday, the parcel storage period will be set til November 12. An extension would be possible for November 13 and 14.
OR the pick-up point is open Monday – Sunday, then the storage period would be until November 11. An extension would be possible for November 12 and 13.
Z-BOXes: 2 + 1
- Recipients have 2 calendar days for parcel pick-up.
- Extending the basic parcel storage period is possible only by one calendar day.
- The maximum storage period is 3 calendar days.
📦 How to extend parcel storage period
- Thru Packeta mobile app (easiest and fastest solution 🙂).
- Via the link you received in the email notification of your parcel´s delivery to the target pick-up location.
- In online parcel tracking.
- By contacting our customer service.
- Thru the official Zásilkovna contact form.
- Or even thru our Packetabot.
