Ukraine and Switzerland: Important information regarding EAN codes

In this article, you can find more detailed information and updates about EAN codes when shipping to Ukraine and Switzerland.
Ukraine
As we have previously communicated, it is mandatory to fill in EAN codes for all shipments sent to Ukraine from September 1.
⚠️ We have postponed the deadline for mandatory EAN code filling to the beginning of November, i.e. November 1, 2025.
If you have products in your portfolio that do not have EAN codes, you can fill in the SKU (stock code) or another code that clearly identifies the product being shipped and is indicated on it.
Contrary to the original announcement, we would like to add that you can use both numeric and alphanumeric codes for this purpose.
This applies to the following services:
- UA Meest Poshta HD – ID1160
- UA Nova Poshta PP – ID3616
Switzerland
As we have already informed you, a new delivery service to Switzerland has been launched on September 1. We would like to remind you that the original solution is only available until the end of October.
In the original announcement, we informed you that providing the EAN code is optional. However, after launching the service, we found that EAN codes are required for more accurate product identification.
The reason for this is that the Swiss customs nomenclature differs from the European one, and therefore additional identification is necessary.
⚠️ For this reason, the EAN code field will be mandatory in our system from November 1.
Here, too, you can use SKU codes if your products are not marked with EAN codes. You can enter numbers and letters up to a maximum length of 25 characters.
By entering EAN codes, you will also be able to use the return solution in Switzerland that we are preparing for you in the future.
This applies to the following services:
- CH Swiss Post HD – ID 29738
- CH Swiss Post Priority HD – ID 30383
We would like to remind you of the recommendations for correctly filling out the customs declaration
- Customs code – for export purposes, enter the 8-digit code according to Taric.
- Name of goods – enter the full description of the product, including the material, not just its sales name.
Example:
❌ Incorrect – YOBELLA XY 123
✅ Correct – cotton T-shirt YOBELLA XY 123
It is important that you follow the rules for entering text. The customs declaration requires mandatory information in English and optional information in the local language. No other option for entering the name and description of the goods is possible.
