Our Bulgarian partner Speedy has informed us that from 1 March, they are changing the rules according to which the volumetric weight of parcels is calculated.
Speedy will newly apply conversion to volumetric weight for all shipments over 7 kg physical weight. As we need to project this change to our system, below you can find the exact formula based on which the volumetric weight is calculated.
The weight of any shipment over 7 kg will be recalculated using formula:
(width x length x height) m * 200 = volumetric weight (in kg)
According to the carrier’s rules, the weight of the parcel with higher value is invoiced.
Some examples to simplify it for you:
Shipment with real weight of 8 kg and dimensions 0,4 x 0,4 x 0,4 meters has volumetric weight of 12,8 kg. This parcel will be charged according tovolumetric weight of 12,8 kg.
Shipment with real weight of 5 kg and dimensions 0,4 x 0,4 x 0,4 m has volumetric weight of 12,8 kg. This parcel will be charged based on real weight because it weighs less than 7 kg.
Shipment with real weight 12 kg sized 0,2 x 0,4 x 0,4 m has volumetric weight of 6,4 kg. This parcel will be charged by real weight because it’s higher than volumetric weight.
This change will apply to both services provided by Speedy in Bulgaria – BG Speedy HD (ID 4015) and BG Speedy PP (ID 4017).
