Packeta, a leading logistics company which in its home market (Czechia) operates under the brand Zásilkovna, started installing keypads on Z-BOXes—its self-service delivery lockers. The company is continuously responding to customer feedback and increasing the accessibility of services. Picking up parcels via automated delivery boxes will now be even simpler.
By the end of the year, Packeta plans to install these keypads on all Z-BOXes in Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia. Z-BOXes enable speedy parcel pick-up and drop-off, are powered by solar panels, and are available 24/7. Czech Zásilkovna continues to have the widest network of pick-up points (5 600) and Z-BOXes (4 100) in the country.
“When we built the first Z-BOX in 2020, we truly believed our customers would love the product. I’m extremely glad this has proven right and that today, we have the widest network of not only pick-up points but also delivery lockers in the Czech Republic. We believe this innovation will be appreciated by people who are not fans of smartphones or simply do not own one. Now, anyone, anywhere can pick up their parcel from a Z-BOX,” comments David Soukup, CNO of Packeta. “We started installing keypads in large cities and thus far, completed approx. 1 000 installations across Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia. By the end of the year, we want all Z-BOXes in our network to be equipped with keypads,” adds David Soukup.

How exactly does parcel pick-up using a keypad work?
If a customer chooses delivery to a Z-BOX with a keypad, they will receive a 6-digit code via email (also via the app and text msg) once the parcel is ready for pick-up. For the pick-up, they must simply enter the code using the keypad, press confirm, and the locker with their parcel will open. Z-BOXes can still be operated contactlessly using Packeta mobile app, for those who prefer this option.
